Some of the TC rifle and some of the Pedersoli's come with a hole already there, but of not, do not panic, it's an easy 5 minute job to drill and tap a 6/32 or 8/32 hole. And the rare occasions everyone is gone, it still looks like someone is there.I am in the process of finding the most accurate hunting bullet for my 1:38 twist 58 cal carbine In the line up are 580 grain Maxi-ball, 560 grain Maxi-hunter, 440 grain REAL as well as some oversized minie ball 500 grain. I wish I could get my hands on some more maxi-hunters.I like the fact that they have a hole cross drilled horizontally in the area where the cap sits. These hole direct the blow back gases outward and help split the cap for easy removal. My other choice of nipples would be the Knight "Red Hot". Both nipples come in sizes to fit your rifles. There are many variables to consider when working up a load for any muzzleloading rifle. Bore size, rare of twist, patching material for round ball, powder type, lube for your bullet/patches. all of these things will affect accuracy and the type of powder you use and the best charge to use.
I bought a barrel with a factory drum that was sloppy. I went to hardware store, bought a larger tap and matching drill bit, and just drilled the old threads out with an electric drill, going slowly. Then tapped to new size. Came out fine. Cost about $12 and I still have the tools.. Dog cums on tits

The load was 50 grains of Pyrodex P (3f), cotton patch with spit and beeswax/olive oil lube and a .490 home cast round ball.
